More Congratulations are due to our USHS Musical students! This time to our High School instrumentalists that recently participated in the OMEA District 2 Honor's Festival: Emily Weatherbee, flute; Logan Ruth, percussion; and Kate Thiel, French Horn. It just goes to show that no matter how cold it may be outside, music certainly warms the heart.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to the following vocal music students: Jackson Moore, Ethan Shoemaker & Hope Korte! They each earned a SUPERIOR rating at last weekends Solo & Ensemble Contest. A superior means that not only do they have great singing voices, but also a high level of technical ability to read and interpret music and performance skills. It is the highest rating you can recieve! CONGRATULATIONS to our singing RAMS!

Have you seen the posts about a fantastic organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace on local community pages? If not, they are a reputable organization that builds and provides beds for youth in need.
We feel that every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to sleep and in that spirit, we have two National Honor Society students, Derek Barr and Lyman Starner who are raising money to pay for one or more beds to be built.
If you would like to donate, drop off or send your donations to the HS and we will be sure to get them to these young men. Thank you!

Enjoy eating to support the school!
Please consider supporting the high school yearbook class fundraiser in order to keep costs down for the students. In recent years, the yearbook fund has struggled to keep up with rising costs and trying not to have to pass it along to students wanting to have a yearbook for their memories.
Butter braids, pumpkin rolls and the other items they carry are delicious and will arrive Feb 25th.
There is also a dog treat available for dog lovers and an opportunity to just make a donation if you prefer that method!

Please use this link to place your order.
http://bit.ly/uppersandyearb

Just choose a student name and the order form will come up for you to place your order.
Orders close February 4th.

Thank you in advance for your order!

IMPORTANT ATHLETIC INFORMATION

With Mother Nature threatening anywhere from one to 4,000+ inches of snow in the coming days, we wanted to keep you updated on our plans for athletic contests for the remainder of this week. As of this posting, all athletic events from today through Saturday, January 24th are STILL ON AS SCHEDULED. We will continue to monitor the weather and make decisions about athletic events as the time comes and when we have more information so please be patient and on the lookout for updates.

Looking at today and tomorrow's contests, here are some important reminders:
- Today's basketball games against Bucyrus will be a triple header format with a Freshman Boys Basketball game starting at 5:00 PM followed by 2 quarters of JV Girls Basketball and capped off with Varsity Girls Basketball. Please be aware that the start times of the JV and Varsity girls contests are not definitive so please plan accordingly. This will not be a split session so admission for all the games will be $8 Adult/$7 Student.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 23
- The JV/Varsity Boys Basketball game against Carey will also be our JH Boys Basketball and Cheerleader Recognition Night. We will be recognizing our 7th and 8th grade players and cheerleaders in between the JV and Varsity contests tomorrow. We will also be collecting canned food items for Open Door Resource Center at tomorrow's game so if you bring in a canned food item, you will receive $1 off of your admission. Boxes will be at each entrance tomorrow for you to deposit your item(s). This is part of one of our NHS student's project so please help us out by donating. We will also be serenaded by the quartet "A Choir'd Taste" from Mansfield, Ohio who will be singing our National Anthem so you don't want to miss it.

Again, please help us spread this information to those who need to hear it. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and let's hope we can still enjoy some athletic contests this weekend. Stay safe, stay warm.

We would like to recognize our first group of Positive Office Referrals for the second semester of the 25-26 School Year. The following students have displayed one of the five characteristics of the district's Portrait of a Ram (Adaptability, Communicating Effectively, Critical Thinking, Integrity, Responsibility). We want to recognize these students for their actions in making USHS an amazing school. I Higgins was recognized for his ability to Think Critically by challenging himself in his online class. L Maynard was recognized for Adaptability as he showed kindness to a teacher. H Bird, R Cox, and S Gannon were all recognized for Responsibility as they helped the office staff to move items to a new location. R Molineaux was recognized for his ability to Communicate Effectively by helping a fellow student to understand the material in class.
