Attention 2026-2027 Kindergarten Parents

Kindergarten Screening is coming up next Thursday, April 30th and Friday, May 1st. If you have not completed or created a Final Forms account it does need to be completed before coming to your child’s screening appointment. Your documents are also required prior to your child being screened. You can download documents to Final Forms, or email the documents to linda_s@usevs.org.

RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE ISSUANCE OF NOTICE TO PUBLIC

BE IT RESOLVED by the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District Board of Education that the Treasurer issue the following notice, on behalf of the Board, to the public in the same manner in which special meetings of the Board are publicized: Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 3307.353, the Upper Sandusky Exempted Village School District Board of Education gives notice that Pamela Karg is or will be retired under the State Teachers Retirement System, effective June 1, 2026, and is seeking employment with this Board thereafter in the same position. The Board will hold a public hearing on July 20, 2026, at 6:00PM at the Upper Sandusky HS Library on the issue of the employee’s re-employment as a teacher.

Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer (SEBT), also known as SUN Bucks, is a summer assistance program for children that began in Summer 2024. Summer EBT provides grocery benefits to low-income families with school-aged children when schools are closed for the summer. Summer EBT benefits will either be loaded to a household’s Ohio Direction Card, on last year’s Summer EBT card, or to a benefit card sent in the mail in a plain white envelope addressed to each eligible child. Eligible Children will receive a one-time benefit of $120 that can be used to buy food during the summer months at grocery stores, farmers markets and other authorized retailers.
All children between the ages of 6 to 18 (must be at least 6 and no older than 18 on August 14, 2026) participating in one or more of the following assistance programs (on or after July 1, 2025) will receive Summer EBT automatically with no need to apply.

• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
• Ohio Works First (OWF)
• Medicaid (if income meets USDA Income Eligibility Guidelines for current program year)
Children of any age enrolled in a school participating in the National School Lunch Program that are approved for free or reduced-price meals for school year 2025-2026 will also receive Summer EBT automatically with no need to apply. Free or Reduced-Price meal application can be submitted at any time. Applications approved before April 29, 2026 will automatically receive SEBT benefits. Summer is just around the corner! Erika Holloway is offering new and improved social-emotional workshops for kids this summer. All workshops will be held in Upper Sandusky, Ohio but are not limited to USEVS students. The exact location will be shared once the registration form is submitted.

This summer, the workshops will be hands-on and occur outdoors (weather permitting). Workshops include Kids Glow Yoga, Iced Coffee & Vision Boards, Nurturing Plants and Our Minds, Building Self-Esteem, Expressive Painting, and Nature Therapy. The goal of these workshops is to provide a safe space for kids to express themselves, boost self-esteem, and equip them with the tools they need to navigate challenges in both school and their personal lives.

Due to storms in Fostoria and wet playing surfaces, tonight's Varsity Boys Tennis match at Fostoria is CANCELLED. We are currently looking for a reschedule date.

Tonight's home JV Baseball game against Crestview is still ON as of this posting. Please note this is a late addition to the schedule.

Author Visit-USHS Grad, Matthew Swinehart, and his sweet therapy dog, Nola, are visiting East on May 6th. "Nola the Noble Corgi Visits the Hospital" is his first book.

Congratulations to the students that received Positive Office Referrals in March/April. These students exemplified one of our Portrait of a Ram characteristics (Adaptability, Critical Thinking, Integrity, Communicate Effectively, Responsibility). Bryson S showed Responsibility by following directions in class. Wyatt J showed Responsibility by helping to clean the room during the Pi Day celebration as he was also engaging with his fellow students. Esperanza D showed Responsibility by cleaning a mess at breakfast that she did not make.

2026 USHS HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS DEADLINE APPROACHING

Nominations for the USHS Hall of Fame Class of 2026 will be closing soon so if you know anyone deserving of induction, don't miss the deadline of May 24th. Candidates must be a graduate of USHS, a former coach at USHS, or an administrator at USHS and must have distinguished themselves through their athletic or administrative accomplishments, exploits, and achievements while at USHS and beyond. Please note that a nomination does not mean induction but all nominations will be kept on file to be considered for future years. If you would like to nominate a candidate for induction, please complete the nomination form found in the attached link, or you can complete a paper copy of the nomination form at the high school athletic office or print the form off of the USEVS District page (under the Athletics/Documents tab). The 2026 USHS Hall of Fame class will be formally inducted at the home varsity football game on Friday, September 4th.
