ATTENTION: The fourth installment of the "All Heart Athlete of the Month" voting is now open to Ram Nation. The USHS Athletic Department is once again excited and proud to promote this very special recognition for our amazing student-athletes. The All-Heart Athlete of the Month is a great way to show some love and recognition for our student-athletes and what they do on and off the field of play. The way this will work is that every month, students at USHS will get the chance to nominate a student-athlete that they feel embodies all of the elements of the AHAOTM. Those elements include Hard work, Enthusiasm, Ambition, Responsibility, and Thoughtfulness. These elements are further described in the documents tab of our district website for your reference. Once the students have made their nominations, the field is narrowed down to the top three by vote of the staff at USHS. These top three male and female athletes are then sent to you, Ram Nation, for your vote. You can vote for one male and female student-athletes using the Google Form attached to this post. The final tally will result in who is crowned the All-Heart Athlete of the Month. If you have any questions about this process please contact the USHS Athletic Department and we will be happy to assist you. The voting will end on Saturday, January 11th at midnight so please get your votes in by that deadline. Thanks in advance for your participation in this special recognition. We want to provide families with some Digital Wellness tips and strategies to consider during the winter break. These ten days are an opportunity to exhibit a healthy relationship with device use. Here is an exercise to try: Commit to a plan around having no phones or devices out as family from out-of-town are visiting or if you are visiting others. Explain that it’s an opportunity to connect with family and anything online can wait. Set an expectation for the entire family so parents/guardians can model a similar ability to know when it is appropriate to be on devices. Find other times during the weekend as your family moves from one activity to another to preemptively define if this is a time the family has devices out. By New Year's Day discuss questions with your children related to this activity, such as: Did you feel more present with your family? What was the most challenging part of the day for you? What was the first thing you did when you got your device out? Why is that specific thing important to you? Can you help our family create a plan to make this a more frequent practice?

Lizzy Davis showed the Portrait of a Ram characteristic of Adaptability by inviting a new student to eat lunch with her and a fried on that students first day. Peyton Rolley showed both Responsibility and Integrity for also helping a new student twice during the day. Waylon Swartz, no picture, showed Integrity by staying at the door and then opening it for a teacher that had their hands full. Cooper Garvin, no picture, showed the ability to Adapt & Grow by sharing information with a school aide.
