Dear Ram and Lady Ram Athletics Community,
The USHS athletic department and the Upper Sandusky Youth Soccer Board would like to take a moment to share a unified message to address some of the issues that have been the topic of discussion over the past week. First, WE would like to offer an apology for any misunderstanding or miscommunication that occurred. That was not intentional in any way and WE will work to improve this in the future. Next, WE want to thank everyone who shared their thoughts and opinions in a positive and meaningful manner. Your input, when shared responsibly, helps us guide our decisions about the direction of our sports programs. Secondly, although the conversations haven’t been productive or beneficial at times, WE are encouraged by the support shown by our community for our sports programs. Athletics are meant to be a positive and unifying force and WE are determined to rally our community through athletics. Ultimately, it’s our kids that WE are focused on and that is why WE believe this message is important. At this time, the discussion about a new softball facility has been moved to a long-term option that will continue to be investigated and communicated with the school district. Further discussions about this project will include transparent communication with all parties involved in a way that will ensure everyone has a voice in order to continue to provide athletic opportunities for all of our youth. Moving forward, WE are committed to working together for the benefit of our youth in all capacities. This includes sharing resources and facilities in order to make the athletic experiences of our youth the best it can be. But most importantly, WE want to establish open, honest, and positive communication with our community. WE also want to encourage our community members to do the same. If you have any questions or concerns about athletic programs, please contact the appropriate sources. Social media should be a place to celebrate the accomplishments of our athletic programs and not the place to raise concerns or spread negativity. It doesn’t help solve anything. Thank you all again for your continued support of our athletic programs and for helping us continue to focus on giving our kids the best that we can. WE are all Rams and WE are all committed to the same goal. RAM PRIDE!
Sincerely,
Blake England, USHS Athletic Director
Ian McCreary, USYS Board President
Johnathon Searfoss, USHS Varsity Boys Soccer Coach
Ty Calvin, USHS Varsity Girls Soccer Coach
Scott Morris, USHS Varsity Softball Coach

REMINDER: Calling all USHS football and cheerleading alumni. It's time to dust off those pom poms, lace up those cleats, and slap on some Icy Hot for the inaugural USHS Alumni Flag Football game. This event is free to the public and will take place on Saturday, August 17th at noon at the USHS stadium. Come out and support Ram athletics in a unique way. If you are interested in participating in this event in some capacity, you can complete and return the registration form located in the rack outside the USHS main office. Due to the weather forecast it has been decided that the Candlelight vigil for Mac will be held on Monday night, June 3rd. It will be held on the front lawn of the High School. Please begin to gather at 7:45-8pm. There will be time to share memories and to visit before the candles (or phone flashlights) are lit at 8:30. All are welcome. If you would like to help with this event, please contact Brooke Woodford on Facebook.

I have agreed to help our community member make plans for a Candlelight Vigil for Mac. She has asked for a survey to determine the best evening for this to occur. If you are interested in attending, please take a moment to answer a single question survey found here: https://forms.gle/F72aPeTrU7Ldy4pa7 This poll will close at 4 pm Sunday June 2 to allow for planning purposes. Thank you for your help!

IThank you for your help.
The Memorial Service for Matthew McConnaughey is scheduled for Thursday June 6th at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St. Marion, OH. Visitation will be 11-1 with the funeral to begin at 1pm.
In addition, Mac's room will be unlocked and the lights on during regular school hours for students or staff that cannot make the trip to Marion to find closure and say goodbye.
We ask that you do not enter the room as Mac's family has not yet collected his personal belongings, but we will have a table with a poster and markers to allow you leave messages for the family and a place to leave mementos should you desire. These items will be given to the family at the Memorial service on June 6th. His room will be left as is through Friday June 7th. Please remember the school is in 'summer mode' meaning the halls are full of desks and chairs and other classroom equipment, please excuse our mess.
A community member is organizing a candlelight vigil for the front lawn of the HS. Time and date is yet to be determined. I will let you know more info on that event when I have it as well.
We continue to make counselors available to any staff or student that contacts us.
It is in this time of need, that we must all take care of each other.

Attention USHS and USMS student athletes. There are still times available to get your son/daughter's physicals scheduled this summer.
