I have agreed to help our community member make plans for a Candlelight Vigil for Mac. She has asked for a survey to determine the best evening for this to occur. If you are interested in attending, please take a moment to answer a single question survey found here: https://forms.gle/F72aPeTrU7Ldy4pa7
This poll will close at 4 pm Sunday June 2 to allow for planning purposes.
IThank you for your help.
The Memorial Service for Matthew McConnaughey is scheduled for Thursday June 6th at Boyd-Born Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St. Marion, OH. Visitation will be 11-1 with the funeral to begin at 1pm.
In addition, Mac's room will be unlocked and the lights on during regular school hours for students or staff that cannot make the trip to Marion to find closure and say goodbye.
We ask that you do not enter the room as Mac's family has not yet collected his personal belongings, but we will have a table with a poster and markers to allow you leave messages for the family and a place to leave mementos should you desire. These items will be given to the family at the Memorial service on June 6th. His room will be left as is through Friday June 7th. Please remember the school is in 'summer mode' meaning the halls are full of desks and chairs and other classroom equipment, please excuse our mess.
A community member is organizing a candlelight vigil for the front lawn of the HS. Time and date is yet to be determined. I will let you know more info on that event when I have it as well.
We continue to make counselors available to any staff or student that contacts us.
It is in this time of need, that we must all take care of each other.

USHS ATHLETIC UPDATES:
The Varsity Rams Baseball team will complete their postponed game at Buckeye Central tonight starting at 4:30 PM. League rules dictate that all conference games MUST be completed and due to scheduling conflicts with Buckeye Central as well as the district tournament schedule, tonight was the last remaining date for this game to be rescheduled. The athletic department understands that tonight is also awards/scholarship night at USHS and we are working with the coaches to make sure students will not miss this event. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause but please know that we did not intend for this conflict to happen and are making accommodations to rectify the situation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the athletic department. Thanks again for your understanding.
