ATTENTION: The sixth installment of the "All Heart Athlete of the Month" voting is now open to Ram Nation. The USHS Athletic Department is once again excited and proud to promote this very special recognition for our amazing student-athletes. The All-Heart Athlete of the Month is a great way to show some love and recognition for our student-athletes and what they do on and off the field of play. The way this will work is that every month, students at USHS will get the chance to nominate a student-athlete that they feel embodies all of the elements of the AHAOTM. Those elements include Hard work, Enthusiasm, Ambition, Responsibility, and Thoughtfulness. These elements are further described in the documents tab of our district website for your reference. Once the students have made their nominations, the field is narrowed down to the top three by vote of the staff at USHS. These top three male and female athletes are then sent to you, Ram Nation, for your vote. You can vote for one male and female student-athletes using the Google Form attached to this post. The final tally will result in who is crowned the All-Heart Athlete of the Month. If you have any questions about this process please contact the USHS Athletic Department and we will be happy to assist you. The voting will end on Sunday, March 30th at midnight so please get your votes in by that deadline. Thanks in advance for your participation in this special recognition. Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer(SEBT), also known as Sun Bucks, is a summer assistance program for children that began in Summer 2024. Summer EBT provides grocery benefits to low income families with school-aged children when schools are closed for the summer. Students currently receiving free meals at school will receive Summer EBT automatically with no need to apply. Benefits will either be loaded to a household's Ohio Direction Card, on last year's Summer EBT card or to a benefit card sent in the mail (to the address on file) in a plain white envelope addressed to each eligible child. Eligible children will receive a one-time benefit of $120 that can be used to buy food during the summer month at grocery stores, farmers markets and other authorized retailers. To opt out of Summer EBT benefits simply cut up the card when received and throw away.

Don’t forget to submit a free and reduced-price meal application with the school if you feel your household might qualify. Applications approved by April 15, 2025 will automatically qualify for the new Summer EBT benefit program, to be used to pay for groceries during the summer months. A school paper application is available at each school office or an online application can be completed by visiting “PaySchools Central” website.

CONGRATULATIONS to Seniors Ellie Zeller and Justin Heilman for being named the All-Heart Athletes of the Month for February. Both Ellie and Justin were nominated and voted on by their peers and community for the many great characteristics they display on and off the field of play. These two give everything they have to their team and their school and exemplify all of the attributes that make them the All-Heart Athletes of the Month and an important part of Ram Nation. Here is a summary of what people had to say about Ellie and Justin: Ellie is a hard worker for the Lady Rams. She is a four-time all-league swimmer, and also earned herself a trip to state this year. She has the school record in the 500 freestyle and is also part of the team that owns the 400 freestyle relay record. Ellie’s achievements are great examples that hard work doesn’t go unrewarded, and it’s valuable for younger swimmers to see this and follow in the same footsteps. Her hard work doesn’t go unnoticed, and the Lady Rams will be missing a big part of their team in the following years as Ellie graduates high school. Being a three sport athlete, Justin Heilman is ambitious in football, basketball, and baseball. He always seeks to win, and knows his role well in all of these sports. He is a quarterback, a point guard, and a pitcher, so there’s no doubt that Justin is a natural born leader. He knows what is required for victory, and he is selfless in doing what is needed for the team. Justin is a true team player, no matter the sport, and the Rams will be missing a well rounded, ambitious athlete in the years to come. Both Justin and Ellie are hard workers in many things, including their work in the classrooms. They were both selected by teachers because of their athletic and academic endeavors. Congratulations again to Ellie and Justin for being selected as our February All-Heart athletes of the month. We thank you both for being great examples of hard work and how such endeavors don’t go unrewarded. We thank you both for your ambition and hard work put towards Upper Sandusky Athletics. Thank you, Ellie and Justin, for representing USHS positively throughout your athletic careers! RAM PRIDE!
