Lots of fun things were happening in our ELA classes this week at USMS. Here are just a few things that our students have been up to. 6th graders were analyzing different types of poetry. 7th graders have been analyzing literature. 8th graders were picking their favorite book in a March madness bracket and also learning about Greek myths!

Hey! 4th Graders! We want you to join the band! https://sites.google.com/usevs.org/usmsband/join-the-band

ATTENTION STAFF & STUDENTS!! Due to a water issue that has caused damage to the pavement of the middle entrance to the west parking lot (near the softball field) making it unsafe to drive on, it will be closed until further notice. You will either need to park in the North lot (by the gym) or VERY CAREFULLY enter/exit using the entrance near Houpt Drive. We hope to have this corrected soon. This may cause slow downs in the morning drop off and afternoon pick up lines. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation while we correct this matter.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL DRIVERS AND/OR PARENTS!! We are experiencing a water erosion issue located in the middle entrance to the West parking lot. This has caused the pavement to become unstable and unsafe to drive on. Beginning immediately, this middle entrance will be closed until we can correct the situation. Please use extreme caution using the South entrance (near Houpt Drive) to enter/exit the West lot. We hope to have this corrected as quickly as possible. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
Have a hankering to teach Math? We are hiring!!

ATTENTION:
The sixth installment of the "All Heart Athlete of the Month" voting is now open to Ram Nation. The USHS Athletic Department is once again excited and proud to promote this very special recognition for our amazing student-athletes. The All-Heart Athlete of the Month is a great way to show some love and recognition for our student-athletes and what they do on and off the field of play. The way this will work is that every month, students at USHS will get the chance to nominate a student-athlete that they feel embodies all of the elements of the AHAOTM. Those elements include Hard work, Enthusiasm, Ambition, Responsibility, and Thoughtfulness. These elements are further described in the documents tab of our district website for your reference. Once the students have made their nominations, the field is narrowed down to the top three by vote of the staff at USHS. These top three male and female athletes are then sent to you, Ram Nation, for your vote. You can vote for one male and female student-athletes using the Google Form attached to this post. The final tally will result in who is crowned the All-Heart Athlete of the Month. If you have any questions about this process please contact the USHS Athletic Department and we will be happy to assist you. The voting will end on Friday, March 14th at midnight so please get your votes in by that deadline. Thanks in advance for your participation in this special recognition.

USEVS has a new all time high breakfast served score! More students “Clued In” to breakfast on Thursday this week than any other day of the school year with a total of 272 breakfasts served! National School Breakfast week was a great way to celebrate the tasty and nutritious school breakfasts that are offered at your student’s school every day of the year! Let's keep increasing participation at breakfast and give students the fuel they need to be "Clued In" to learning! Thank you for choosing school meals!

Here is our first round of March Positive Office Referrals. The following students showed one of our Portrait of a Ram characteristics in the school, classroom, or at an event and are being recognized by someone from the school. Priya Sours and Kimberly Mann showed Integrity as they helped a classmate that was having a tough time with an assignment in class. Kail Rowe showed the ability to Communicate Effectively by explaining something differently than his teacher to the class. Ethan Lewis and Brock Montgomery showed Integrity by volunteering to take all the boxes from a shipment of science supplies to the recycling bin for the teacher.

Two more chances to celebrate National School Breakfast Week! Students are “Clued In” to healthy and tasty school breakfasts! Wednesday the district hit an all-time high with 269 breakfasts served! Let’s see if we can continue to increase the number of students that take advantage of school breakfast. In case you didn’t know, students that receive free lunch also receive a free breakfast! See you in the cafeteria!

Due to some slippery roads in the country Upper Sandusky schools will be on a two hour delay today, Thursday, January 6, 2025.
If your child has a food allergy, it's crucial to inform your school about it so they can create a safe environment by educating staff, managing food in the cafeteria, and having a plan in place to handle potential allergic reactions. Keep your child’s food allergy list up to date in Final Forms. This will alert the cafeteria staff in the point of sale system, PaySchools, when your child makes purchases is the school cafeteria. Information entered in final forms is shared with the cafeteria point of sale system so by keeping your students information current the cafeteria staff will have the information they need to create a safe environment. Thank you for choosing school meals!

Congratulations to these USHS students who were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society this evening at Sentinel!! Such a proud moment!!
Congratulations to Carson Selover, Conner Beidelschies, Fabiana Ramos Morilla, and Lucas Thiel
