Hello Ram Family! Hope everyone is having a great summer! See you in August!

This is just a friendly reminder that sign-ups for the upcoming fall sports season are now open. Parents/guardians, please log into your Final Forms account and sign your son or daughter up for the sports they intend to participate in this coming school year. Please remember that parents/guardians are the only ones able to sign their child(ren) up for their selected sports so please make sure you do this in a timely manner. Once you have them signed up, the coaches will be able to provide information about summer workouts and other important information. Also, please make sure you and your student-athlete are reading and completing all of the required forms in order to participate. This includes the mandatory preseason fall parent meeting slideshow located within Final Forms. All forms must be completed prior to participation. Additionally, please remember that a valid physical MUST be provided to the USHS/USMS Athletic Offices BEFORE your son or daughter is allowed to participate in their selected sport. Finally, please remember that the USEVS no contact period is from June 24th through July 5th. All practice facilities and buildings will be closed during this period and there will be no coaching contact as well. If you have any questions about this, please contact the USHS Athletic Office. Enjoy your summer break and we look forward to seeing you all in the Fall as we start another season of Rams and Lady Rams athletics!

As we prepare for the upcoming school year, we want to share an important update regarding your student’s science placement. Your student’s schedule has been adjusted to place them in Physical Science / ICP instead of Honors Biology / Biology. Our district is shifting the high school science sequence moving forward. Ninth graders will now take Physical Science / ICP, and 10th graders will take Honors Biology / Biology. We made this decision based on three main factors to help your student succeed:
Testing Relief: Biology concludes with a high-stakes state exam. Moving this class to 10th grade gives freshmen one less state test during their transition to high school. It also allows students to be a year older and more academically prepared when they take the exam.
State Alignment: The State of Ohio designs the Biology curriculum specifically for sophomore-level students. This shift aligns our high school with state expectations and neighboring districts. If a student transfers to or from our school mid-year, they will now be in the exact same class as their grade-level peers.
Academic Maturity: Biology contains abstract concepts that can be difficult for 9th graders to grasp. Waiting until 10th grade leverages your student's increased academic maturity, which historically leads to higher comprehension and better overall success rates. We are excited to welcome your student to high school and look forward to supporting them in Physical Science this year. If you have any questions or concerns about this schedule change, please reach out to us.
Thank you and enjoy your summer!
