Happy New Year! We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday. We will kick things off right away with our Right to Read Week activities. This year’s theme is “Get ready to hibernate with a great book!”, and we have several fun and engaging activities planned.
Monday – Reading in Our “Den” (Flashlights Needed!) On Monday, students will be reading in their classroom “dens” to help set the mood for a cozy reading experience. A flashlight will be an important part of this activity, as it will allow students to read comfortably in our den setting and make the experience extra special. If at all possible, please be sure your child brings a flashlight to school on Monday.
Throughout the week, we will be tracking the number of minutes students spend reading at school. Our goal is for each student to read at least 100 minutes at school, and of course, additional reading at home is always encouraged.
Tuesday – Pajama Day On Tuesday, we will be “hibernating with a book,” so students are invited to wear their pajamas to school.
More information about this fun and educational week will be coming soon, but I wanted to be sure you had these important details before the weekend.
We look forward to seeing everyone very soon!

Union Elementary/USMS have partnered with WCC to provide after-school programs for our students—HUB Kids (K–3rd grade) and The HUB (4th–9th grade). These programs offer a safe, supportive place for students to go after school. Please consider making a donation to help us continue offering these valuable services. Your support makes a real difference!

Big news in first grade! 🎉 Q&U were married today. We use this as a fun moment so that students always remember the phonics rule that Q is almost always followed by the letter U when we are writing or spelling. 😃
