Dear Parents,
Unfortunately due to the condition of our field from the weather and difficulty finding subs for our building our field day will be cancelled. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Dear Union Elementary parents, staff and community,
This year the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce nominated Union Elementary as one of fourteen schools in Ohio for the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program. To put this into perspective, Ohio has 611 school districts. That makes this recognition especially meaningful. Union Elementary was nominated under the Exemplary High Performing Schools category. Way to go!
Our teachers are some of the absolute best at what they do. I wish you could see firsthand the dedication and skill they bring each day. In light of this recognition and following Teacher Appreciation Week, I’d like to share a portion of our application that highlights what makes Union Elementary special.
'The one practice that has been instrumental to Union Elementary’s success has been a strong veteran staff and parents who work together to meet student needs. Specifically, they create a welcoming environment for students, families, and community members. The staff epitomizes the quote from Maya Angelou, “I’ve learned that people will forget about what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” From the moment students enter Union Elementary, they feel welcomed, from the art displayed on the hallway walls to the smiles from teachers and paraprofessionals they may not know.
Parents are an invaluable part of our school. We have an active parent group that meets regularly, raises funds, and plans activities for students. These include glow dances, a pi day event, a family fun fest, and field trips for our students to museums, eco-centers, and city zoos. Our parent team is more than just a partner in our school; they are integral to what we do every day. Parents volunteer their time in our cafeteria, help raise money for field trips, volunteer in classrooms, chaperone field trips, and strongly support our teachers. Engaging our families is integral to Union Elementary’s success."
I look forward to seeing you at our Celebration of Learning on May 16th. You and your children MAKE our school what it is. See attached flyer for details.
