Just a reminder that picture day for Union is this Friday, September 25th. Also, we will be participating in Homecoming Spirit week along with the middle school and high school. See attached flyer for dates and details.

Dear School Community,
Due to the forecasted high temperatures and the current classroom temperatures in our buildings, school will be closed on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The health and safety of our students and staff are our highest priority. Given the expected heat and the temperatures currently being experienced inside and outside our buildings, we believe cancelling school is the safest decision.
Please note:
Sentinel and Mohawk buses will run as scheduled.
St. Peter's School will be closed.
For the status of any sports events or practices, please follow up directly with your coach or the athletic director.
The Facilities Advisory Committee meeting at the Middle School at 6:00 p.m. will meet as scheduled.
We recognize that cancelling school can create significant challenges for parents and guardians, particularly those who have work and childcare responsibilities. We understand that these decisions can be difficult for families and appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we make the decision we believe is best for the safety of our students and staff.
We encourage everyone to stay cool, hydrated, and safe during the heat.
Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our school community safe. I hope everyone stays safe and comfortable, and I look forward to seeing all of our students back at school on Friday.

Tomorrow is the day of our Open House! You can come any time between 4.30pm-6pm to take pictures, drop off supplies and meet your teacher.
Unsure of your teacher assignment or schedule? Come see Dr. Watson in the Auditorium and I'll point you in the right direction. Just two things to note:
Kindergarten parents- If you're uncertain of how the staggered start works please see your teacher or Dr. Watson for directions.
1st grade parents- Please bring your Chromebook and charger to Open House. Your teachers will collect them at that time.

A new tradition is in the works! On August 28th we will be passing the torch from our K students from our Seniors. K parents, if you bring this flyer your child will enter for free!
As our school year is set to begin please review the school year calendar. This is also accessible on our district website (Menu--> 2026-27 district calendar). On it you will find school start and end dates, planned holidays, parent-teacher conference dates, two hour delays and the beginning and end of the quarters. This makes it an excellent tool for vacation and appointment planning to minimize time out of school.
Looking forward to seeing you all at our Open House on August 24th from 4.30-6pm. Please note you do not have to stay for this entire time. This is just the time when you can drop off supplies, connect with some community partners, meet your teacher and take some nice pictures with your family.

It's officially August and we are gearing up for heading back to school. I'm looking forward to another great school year. This is just a reminder of some important dates I sent before I left for the summer:
1. Our K-3 Open House is August 24th, 4.30pm-6pm.
2. Popsicles with the principal is August 13th, 5pm on the Union playground.
3. Kindergarten (parents only) meeting is August 13th 6pm in the Union auditorium.
Also, classroom assignment postcards will be in the mail by August 10th. If you have any specific questions please email me at tim_w@usevs.org and I'll get back to you as soon I can.
