Girls 1st Place Finish

Lady Rams Capture Carey Relays with Confidence

The Upper Sandusky Lady Rams put together a complete team performance Saturday at the Carey Blue Devil Relays, winning the team title with 140 points, a massive jump from last year’s runner-up finish of 80.

This wasn’t a one-event win—this was total team dominance built on contributions from every group on the track and field events. It was a perfect balance of athleticism and drive today.

The distance medley relay team of Abbi Ault, Bailey Hinesman, Jocelyn Leightey, and Arielle O'Flaherty controlled the running events from the start and brought home a convincing win. Leightey then doubled back in the open mile and took first place, with Hinesman finishing third, giving the Lady Rams a huge point swing in one event alone.

Even the freshmen stepped up in a big way, as Madison Miles finished 2nd and Felicity Bils added points with a 5th place finish in the freshman mile.

The 4x800 relay team of Abbi Ault, Bailey Hinesman, Jocelyn Leightey, and Madison Miles controlled the race from the start and brought home a convincing win.

On the sprint side, the girls were equally as strong.

The 4x100 of Karisanne Reile, Jayden Richards, Shiloh Shasteen and Jillian Stansbery (3rd place), while continuing to stack points throughout the meet.

In the hurdles, the shuttle hurdle relay team of Lia Wilkinson, Kya Martinez added valuable points with a solid finish.

The younger sprint group also made a big impact, with Jennifer Lopez Camacho, Kennedi Dunn, Jayden Richards, and Jillian Stansbery finishing 2nd in the freshman sprint medley.

The 4x200 relay team of Arielle O’Flaherty, Jayden Richards, Shiloh Shasteen, and Jillian Stansbery delivered one of the top performances of the night, dipping just below 1:50, winning the event and setting the tone for the remainder of the meet.

In the 4x400 relay, the team of O’Flaherty, Leightey, Adriane Yeater, and Kim Thomas closed out the night with a strong runner-up finish, sealing the team title.

Field events helped push the meet out of reach.

The throwers relay team of Ava Walton, Aeris Caudill, Laney Niederkohr, and Adalee Wagner dominated their event, taking 1st place and setting the tone early in the field events.

In the jumps, Abi Gottfried scored in the high jump, while Madelyn Collins, Rylee McCreary, Madelyn Pagnard, and Kya Martinez added points in the horizontal jumps.

Topping off the vertical events was Shiloh Shasteen, Kinsley, Niederkohr, and Abbie Ault with a first place finish in Pole Vault.

In the throws, Averie Rowlinson led the way with a top finish in shot put, while Caudill and Wagner added key team points, and Melanie Bowen and Emily Weatherbee contributed in discus.

From top to bottom, this was a complete team effort.

Distance, sprints, freshmen, and field events all delivered. The difference from last year is clear—this group didn’t just compete, they controlled the meet.

The Lady Rams didn’t leave it up to chance this time—they went out and took it.
