School Cancellation – September 3, 2026
Dear School Community,
Due to the forecasted high temperatures and the current classroom temperatures in our buildings, school will be closed on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
The health and safety of our students and staff are our highest priority. Given the expected heat and the temperatures currently being experienced inside and outside our buildings, we believe cancelling school is the safest decision.
Please note:
Sentinel and Mohawk buses will run as scheduled.
St. Peter's School will be closed.
For the status of any sports events or practices, please follow up directly with your coach or the athletic director.
The Facilities Advisory Committee meeting at the Middle School at 6:00 p.m. will meet as scheduled.
We recognize that cancelling school can create significant challenges for parents and guardians, particularly those who have work and childcare responsibilities. We understand that these decisions can be difficult for families and appreciate your patience, flexibility, and understanding as we make the decision we believe is best for the safety of our students and staff.
We encourage everyone to stay cool, hydrated, and safe during the heat.

Your student’s Ohio State Testing scores are now live on PowerSchool Parent Portal for viewing at your convenience. You will still receive the traditional
testing results letter in the fall, which will contain more of a breakdown of your
student’s performance on this spring’s state tests.
For all of the tests, there are five (5) different performance levels
1) Limited
2) Basic
3) Proficient
4) Accomplished
5) Advanced
For accountability purposes, “passing” includes the Proficient, Accomplished and Advanced levels for all tests except Algebra I and ELA II. The
competency score (“passing”) required for graduation on the Algebra I and ELA II exams is 684 or higher. On the next page are tables showing the scale score ranges for each test.
If you have any questions regarding your elementary student’s scores, please
email the building principal (East/South - ailsa_d@usevs.org; Union ES - tim_w@usevs.org). If you have questions regarding your middle school student’s scores, please email Mrs. Parrott at patty_p@usevs.org. Summer is just around the corner! Erika Holloway is offering new and improved social-emotional workshops for kids this summer. All workshops will be held in Upper Sandusky, Ohio but are not limited to USEVS students. The exact location will be shared once the registration form is submitted.
This summer, the workshops will be hands-on and occur outdoors (weather permitting). Workshops include Kids Glow Yoga, Iced Coffee & Vision Boards, Nurturing Plants and Our Minds, Building Self-Esteem, Expressive Painting, and Nature Therapy. The goal of these workshops is to provide a safe space for kids to express themselves, boost self-esteem, and equip them with the tools they need to navigate challenges in both school and their personal lives.

Kindergarten Registration ends on Thursday, April 16th, 2026. Please remember to complete Final Forms and to download your documents. If you are not able to download your documents into Final Forms, or do not have access to a copier, you can bring your documents to East, South, or Union Elementary Schools any weekday between 8 am and 2 pm, or to the Superintendent’s office at 800 North Sandusky between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm to have copies made at no charge, before your screening appointment. Please do not wait until the last week to come in to have your copies made, as the week of screening will be extremely busy. Check your email for screening information. You may also email documents to linda_s@usevs.org
