Both Upper Sandusky Cross Country Teams Advance to Regionals!
It was a great day for Upper Sandusky Cross Country as both the Rams and Lady Rams earned their spots in next weekend’s OHSAA Division III Regional Championships!
Competing at Saturday’s District Meet in Galion, both teams put together strong performances to keep their seasons alive.
The boys were led by junior Carter Pohlman, who finished 4th overall with a time of 16:57.5. Senior Henry Minehart followed with a 9th-place finish (17:31.5), while junior Andrew Leightey placed 13th (17:55.4). Sophomore Joshua Craig finished 26th (18:54.9), followed by seniors Christian Miller in 35th (19:29.8), Bryce Weyand in 36th (19:31.2) and senior Logan Ruth in 38th (19:33).
The Lady Rams were led by senior Jocelyn Leightey, who turned in an outstanding 4th-place finish with a time of 19:46.6. Sophomore Madison Miles also had a strong race, finishing 7th (20:37.6). Felicity Bils placed 21st (22:59.9), followed by Madison Wengerd in 24th (23:34.4), Nora Leightey in 26th (23:39.1), Abigail Ault in 32nd (24:18.1), and Lia Wilkinson in 36th (24:40.8).
Cross country is truly a team sport, and every runner played a part in helping both teams advance. Their hard work throughout the season has earned them another opportunity to compete against some of the best runners in Northwest Ohio.
Both teams will now travel to Hedges-Boyer Park in Tiffin on Saturday, October 31, to compete in the Regional Championships, with a trip to the OHSAA State Championships on the line.
Congratulations to all the runners and Coach Ed Arnold on a great day of racing! Best of luck next weekend!
