The criteria for selection of students of the month accolades at Upper Sandusky High School follows:

1. One student from each grade level is selected each month by secret staff ballot.
2.  Staff members may nominate students anytime. Nomination forms are turned into the guidance office where monthly ballots are formed. Staff members may be quoted in the news release concerning the reason for the nomination.
3. A student nomination remains in effect until s/he is selected or the end of the year whichever comes first.
4. Selection considerations:
   
   • Citizenship
   • Academic progress
   • Special acts of kindness
   • Accomplishments bringing positive publicity to Upper Sandusky High School.
5. Recognition includes:
• News release
• Student-of-the-Month certificate
• Recognized on school web page
• Announced via morning announcements
• Group picture in yearbook
