Mask Mandate Update - 9/27/21

Dear Parents and Community,

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times. I have been watching our absenteeism rate steadily decline from its peak of 268 students in one day. As promised beginning Wednesday, September 29, 2021 masks will be optional in all buildings in the district. There are some important exceptions that I want to make sure you understand.

Transportation

? Due to Federal CDC mandate a mask is still required on all district transportation (buses) unless a student has a note from a doctor indicating that they should not wear a mask.

Quarantine Rules
  •
?  Quarantine rules are established and controlled by the health department and not the school district.
?  If your child is masked and/or vaccinated and is exposed to someone who is positive they will not be required to quarantine under current health department rules if they are not showing any symptoms.

?  If your child is not masked or vaccinated and exposed to someone who is positive they will be required to quarantine for 10 days. Your child may take a Covid-19 test on day five, six, or seven of the quarantine period and may return on day eight if they are negative and symptom free.

?  If your child is involved in athletics or extracurricular activities to remain eligible and avoid quarantine due to exposure, masks and/or vaccination is recommended.

?  These guidelines are subject to change based on health department directives. Assignments During Quarantine

?  The Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (FERPA) as enacted by the federal government does not allow teachers to video record or broadcast live classroom sessions.

?  Students in the high school and middle school can access all their assignments online via Schoology. They can also email any of their teachers for additional assistance and guidance.

?  Students in the elementary schools will get assignments directly from the classroom teacher. Classroom teachers will make contact with parents to make arrangements for assignments.
