East 2nd Grade LOVES the 2nd & 7 Foundation!

East 2nd Grade LOVES the 2nd & 7 Foundation!

East Second Graders are learning to love reading thanks to the help of Ohio State’s Second and Seven Foundation. Three former Ohio State football players, Luke Fickell, Ryan Miller, and Mike Vrabel, started the foundation in 1999. The mission of the 2nd & 7 Foundation is to promote reading by providing free books and positive role models to kids in need while encouraging young athletes of the community to pay it forward. Across the country they have donated 175,000 books since 1999. Also known as the “Tackle Illiteracy” program, they generously give Hog Mollies books which present valuable life lessons such as doing your best and honesty. We welcomed USHS student athletes, Alivia Oney, Caden Roberts, and Danielle Thiel last month to read and give books to students.  We are looking forward to two more 2nd & 7 reading days this year, including National 2.7 Day on February 7th.  Thank you OSU and USHS for giving back!  Go Bucks! Ram Pride!
